Indian Wedding Photographer – Photos by Jay

Are you looking for an experienced, accredited Indian Wedding Photographer? My name is Jay. I am an Indian wedding photographer based in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, Australia.

About my Indian wedding photography

I have found that today’s brides, Indian or not, want their wedding photos to reflect the age they are growing up in. The rigid, dry bride photos seem to be giving way to images that capture all the bright colours, smiles, beauty and tradition that lend so much more impact and uniqueness to your wedding day. Of course the important events need to be captured clearly, but why not capture them with some flair and style? This is what I aim to capture in every Indian wedding I photograph.

Having photographed many Indian weddings and functions and being of an Indian background, I have an in-depth understanding of the rituals and traditions of an Indian wedding ceremony. I have photographed many Hindu, Muslim, Pakistani and Lebanese weddings and functions, including many traditional Bharatanatyam Arangetram dance performances.

I am happy to tailor a package to suit your budget and desired amount of coverage (just the wedding/reception or all of the functions throughout the week), so please don’t hesitate to call me (Jay) on 0402 874 141 or email me on info@indianweddingphotographer.com.au to arrange a time to meet.

Jay, thanks so much for being so friendly and accommodating on our wedding day. Your photos are so natural and colourful, you really did a fantastic job capturing the special moments. The album is just gorgeous!

About my wedding photography style

No stiff poses. No bossing around the bridal party. No stopping the action. Candid moments. Unexpected moments. By being as invisible and non-intrusive as possible, I will capture you and your family and friends being themselves and interacting naturally. In my experience I have found that the best images happen when people have let their guard down and are not aware they are being photographed. While I do offer some suggestions on the best locations during your couple shoot for the best images, I always allow you to relax and be yourselves while I snap away from a distance. I know I’ve done my job well when the couple tells me that they barely knew I was there.

Choosing an Indian wedding photographer

Your wedding day only happens once, and your wedding photographer should always understand your specific needs and be flexible and friendly on the day. You have probably heard horror stories about wedding photographers who take over the day, bossing around the bridal party and stopping and interfering with the action.

You should meet with at least 3 wedding photographers before making your decision. After the initial meeting you should have a clear idea of their packages and pricing, have seen some recent albums. Most importantly you should have a “gut feeling” of whether or not you have a connection with the photographer.

Indian weddings are very unique. The rituals on the days leading up to the ceremony (mehendi, mandvo, pithi, sangeet/sanjee etc.) are just as important as the wedding day. On the wedding day, the arrival of the bharat, the bride’s entrance and the whole ceremony are steeped in tradition and very involved. Your Indian wedding photographer should be able to comfortably and confidently know where to be and when on the wedding day. You should also meet with your wedding photographer before the date to go over the days in detail so nothing is missed.

Your wedding photographer should be recognised with an industry association such as the SWPP in the UK, or AIPP in Australia. This ensures that you will get a professional level of service, and that your wedding photographer will behave ethically at all times and be flexible with their packages to meet your exact requirements.
